when he was talking about being told what was happening in the game so that he knew how to do the dialogue i kept picturing him going “what’s master chief’s motivation? how does he feel?” lol!

Xerxes, great interview from a great interviewer. And what an ambassador for Halo Steve Downes is! Here he is the hero of the story, yet he’s thanking us for becoming that hero … it takes quite a man to look beyond himself. Steve’s diplomacy is a credit to himself, the game and Bungie.
Indeed, that was awesome. Kinda strange to attach a voice to something other then John-117, but Steve sounds like a great guy, we’re lucky to have such great people at all levels of the Halo experience.

DeeJ replies: “Uh, yeah. You are most likely referring to our first interview with him. I have kicked myself for the poor quality of that for years. Alas, I was one neophyte blogger with no idea about audio production. On this occasion, it sheepishly invited myself over to the radio station… as if to say “You don’t want to leave me to my own devices.”
Wow, Steve sounds like a real badass. He only really has to change his voice a tiny bit to sound like the Chief. That’s awesome.

I love his explanation on the chief and how the gamer is him, Steve is just a voice for us.
Becoming one with the Chief makes Halo so great. Having Steve’s voice being the voice of the Chief, is fantastic. My voice isn’t nearly as cool.
How do people in Chicago not call his radio show on a daily basis-saying, “Hi Masterchief!”
