D1116 T2253 Y2006Jessica Chobot

This week I had the pleasure to interview Jessica Chobot from IGN. She has one of the coolest jobs ever, because she travels around and interviews people, and gets to preview games and systems. Talk about a dream job for this gamer. She also updates her blog on IGN with tales of her adventures, who she gets to talk to, and the things she gets to do. Without further ado, here are her answers to the 22 Questions.

  • Gametag: TheBaroness
  • Pet Peeve: The “cooler than thou” attitude that many gamers seem to have these days (doesn’t anyone just play for fun anymore?!?).
  • Your Best Moment of Triumph: When I used to shark guys out of quarters playing Mortal Kombat at the neighborhood arcade.
  • Game That Was the Biggest Let Down: Silent Hill 4: The Room
  • Closest You Have Come to Death: Various times I’ve almost been hit by cars and what not.
  • What Are You Better at Than Anyone You Know: Lying to myself.
  • Little Known Fact: I used to be uber gothic when I was in high school.
  • Ideal Business: Either owning a comic book/ videogame store or being a household name within the videogame industry.
  • First Game That Had You Hooked: River Raid & Pitfall
  • Mac or PC: PC
  • Song You Are Currently Listening to: “Sally’s Song” by Fiona Apple from The Nightmare Before Xmas (3-D) soundtrack, Lilley Allen, Marie Antoinette soundtrack and Siouxsie and the Banshees singles.
  • Game/System You Are Looking Forward to the Most: Zelda: Twilight Princess on Wii, FFXIII for PS3, Gears/War on 360 ( I just bought it the other day but haven’t played it yet) and World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade expansion pack (although I’m on the beta so I may get my fill before it’s released to retail).
  • Supernatural Power of Choice: Mind control via Dr. Xavier
  • Most Expensive Thing You Ever Stole: Someone’s heart.
  • Favorite Arcade Game: Silent Scope, Police 911, Bubble Bobble, Soul Calibur II.
  • Last Gadget Purchased: A Cingular Blackberry
  • Favorite Holiday: Christmas
  • Current Trend You Least Understand: Super tight leggings underneath miniskirts or shorts. UGH!
  • Simon or Garfunkel: Simon.
  • Historical Figure You Would Reanimate: No one comes to mind.
  • Dogs, Cats, Birds or Wombats: All of the above. I love animals :)
  • Movie Quote: “It’s MEGA-MAID! She’s gone from suck to blow!” –Spaceballs.

  • Brannon Boren Asks- If you could pick anyone in the world, and have that person come to your house to play Halo for an afternoon, who would you choose: Hmmm…..Trent Reznor.

Awesome answers Jessica! I would have to agree that it would be pretty awesome to game with Trent for an afternoon. Thanks a lot for doing the interview and keep up the great work. Readers, make sure to stop by her blog for some insight into her job, and check out IGN Weekly to see some of the interviews and interesting things she gets to do. Till next week, when you can see who I nabbed for an interview then.

No one asked the important questions! How did she go from being a typical Booth Babe and end up getting to play all the games and be a gaming personality that all guys are envious of?

    Whoa!

I had to clean house here. We were paid a visit by a nice lady, and some people in the clubhouse forgot to behave like Gentlemen. When one’s freedom of speech is abused, so are my moderator privelages.

We now resume your regularly scheduled blog chatter.

Thanks guys for keeping the banter regarding my interview light and fun and keeping the board trolls out.
Unfortunatly, due to my line of work (and just being myself), I often have the bad, as well as the good, shortly behind me.
I suppose you can’t have one without the other.
Anyway, sorry if my interview has caused the mods on this site some hardship, but I had fun and look forward to seeing more of this site in the future!
    Thanks :)
