This lovely Monday I am having a talk with DoodiRock from 2old2play, the ‘Older Gamers Paradise’. As the description emplies, this community is for the mature gamer. They have a 25+ age cap, which helps filter out the average Timmy youngsters. The TTL Gunslingers have had a few challenges against this group and they prove to be some of the most mature and fun-loving sportsmen to date. 2old2play is a community more than a specific clan. It is the home to many mature clans in many different games. Here is Doodi with more info on 2old2play, have a read.

How and when did your clan start up?
I started the clan about 2 years ago around the month of May. I had just joined another older gamer’s site, but it had no clans or support for clans. So I decided to go online and play a little match making with my roommate. As always it was a battle between enjoying the game and dealing with underage loudmouth kids (Timmys). Then I randomly met someone named Mike James. We talked about being older and hating the online experience of Halo. The rest is history. That was the day 2old2play was born.
What meaning does your clan’s name hold?
Basically we are a site that is filled with gamers over the age of 25. Most of us are in our 30’s, married with children, jobs, and responsibilities. The name is a pun for all the people that tell us to stop gaming. It’s no a rare occurrence that one of our members will hear the phrase, “You still play video games? Don’t you think you’re too old to play?” Well, of coarse we aren’t and I think our 6,500 plus membership shows that.
How many people call your clan home?
100 people are in my 2o2p halo 2 clan, but the site is home to over 6,711 members with over 40 clans. 16 of those clans are for Halo 2.
How do you go about luring and screening recruits?
Well, my halo 2 clan has been officially closed for about 6 months now. It really is only a place to meet up with friends and chat. When we play, we do it as a way to hang out with buddies, drink some beers, and forget about work for a while. This means that we are not really looking for any new people at the moment. Maybe when Halo 3 rolls out, but I still doubt it. The good news is that with 16 other halo 2 clans on our site, there is no reason you can’t join in the fun. All the clans mix up with one another and so it’s not unlikely to see 5 different 2old2play clans all in the same party together. We are all family, and try to game that way.
What are some unique bylaws that your clan enforces?
The minimum age to enter is 25. A lot of people think this a little strict, but to be honest it probably isn’t strict enough. We want our members to be adults and so we feel that 25 is a good enough number to start weeding out the Timmies and cheaters with. So far it seems to have worked perfectly, but even some 25 year olds can be completely immature. Other then that, we don’t take any racists, cheaters, bigots, hot heads, or assholes; just older gamers please.
What do you do to build camaraderie in your ranks?
That’s easy. Because we are all older games, the bonding takes care of itself. We all have similar responsibilities in life and that makes it easy to get along. We understand that it is more about relaxing and hanging out, then about rank or titles.
What is the best way to get booted from your clan?
Be under the age limit, lie about your age, cheat, or personally attack other members. That’s a ban for sure.
What gametypes does your clan prefer?
We really don’t have a preference as long as well are all playing together. It could be matchmaking or a custom. Either will almost certain degrade into joking around with each other and causing general mayhem on XBL.
What is your poison/passion: Matchmaking? Customs? Challenges? MLG?
I would say we mostly like to do customs for a while before we head into MM. It’s a way to just say high to everyone and warm up before we take on the Timmies of the world.
What is the closest game your clan has had?
Wow, that’s a tough one. I think the best game we ever had was on Headlong about 1 year ago. This was before the time ran out with assault. The opposing team decided to cheat and fly the bomb all the way up to the top of the map. Their idea was to wait us out until we quit the game. Well, as a group of old guys we had decided it was time to make a stand against these punks. So we waited. And waited. And waited some more. After more then 3 hours of hiding the bomb, the opposite team started to slowly quit out. Finally the bomb carry got bored enough to fly out and try to arm it. Well, they couldn’t and we ended up arming both times for a 2-0 victory. The total game time was around 4 hours.
Thanks alot Doodi for all the info. I think we all appeciate the removal of the sudden death on Assault. The thing that always baffled me on those games was why would anyone wait 4 hours with a bomb on top of the map to win a game? You could play, lose that game, and have time to play 15 more games and win those. Oh the Timmys… and the lack of real logic they bring to the game. Readers, make sure to take a look at 2old2play’s site and if you are of the age then join their forum and have a chat with other mature, like-minded gamers.
If you know a clan, or are in a clan that would like to be spotlighted in the Clan Profile then send me an email and tell me about it. Hope everyone enjoyed this week’s profile. Stop back next week for another great clan.

Great interview. It’s nice to see safe havens like 2old2play, a place to get away from the scurge of XBL. A great community full of great people….keep gaming, I know I will.
Thanks Dweezle for the writeup. I can’t stress the word ‘community’ enough. At our recent LAN, we had a great showing from several clans and well, the only competition I saw between them was who could float the keg first :D
I also wanted to say that we take care of our own. Since most of us have families, responsibilities are always on our mind. When another memeber finds themselves in a bind from time to time, the community has gotten together to help them out. They also do things to celebrate such as my clan kindly giving me my 360 as a wedding gift this summer. I loved it. My wife didn’t :D
6000+ members eh.. MS needs to expand my friends list :D
Thanks again TTL.
Goose.
I’m counting down the days til my 25th Birthday. Then I’m going to promptly join the 2old2play Community.
Good write up!
Biggest LAN Parties I have ever been too. These guys are LANning fools! When this little blog started up, 2ol2players were among the first to step forth and forge alliances. We all say thankya.
Peace, doodi.
These guys really are great. When I finally decided to give up the ghost on my last clan I was in between them Preatoria Guard and TTL Gunslingers. I investigated (read stalked) all three carefully and in the end the only thing that seperated these three equally great communities was my love of all things Stephen King.
Great write up. I love to play against these guys. Even though most are around my age I love going into work and telling folks I just killed a bunch of old people last night. ;)
I’m so glad that assault no longer has the contest rule… Same thing hapened to me and a bunch of friends on Head-long. The bomb guy rode up on a banshee, and the Banshee was taken off the map. We waited three plus hours for the banshee guy to drop, then managed to use the Banshee to get up when it respawned.
I can only imagine how pissed the griefer was when he came back to his x-box and found that the game was over, and his team had lost.
I think that’s the most memorable game I ever played, and we had a blast jousting with about every vehicle on the map while we waited.
