It is time again to profile another great clan. Truth Regret is up on the chopping block for this week. We enjoyed a wonderful challenge with this group in late July. Ever since then I have found many of the Truth Regret members on my friend’s list. They are always outstanding players, and equally dynamic sportsmen. When they aren’t falling asleep, they are really fun to play custom games with. Actually, I take that back, they are also fun when they fall asleep. It is a pleasure to game with them, and to spotlight them on this week’s Clan Profile. Here is what their leader, The Furian had to say about them.

How and when did your clan start up?
It actually was rather uneventful when I actually sat down and created the clan “Truth Regret” in Halo 2’s online Clan system(but this date was Dec 04, 2004). Only when some drastic changes were made in my life did I feel that TR needed to step up and make a difference for those who wanted it to.
What meaning does your clan’s name hold?
I came up with the actual name “Truth Regret” with two ideas I wanted to convey:
The actual “meaning” of our group that we try with all our might to adhere to? Well, when somebody asks for a quick summary we use the terms “Honor, Trust, Loyalty and Brotherhood”. However, in a little more detail this can have many descriptions. The most important one being (in my personal opinion) the decaying state of online gaming. This, “world” of online gaming has become a “cesspool” of cheating, racism, sexism and overall disrespect. TR aims to change that by creating a “safe haven” for those who wish to play competitively, fairly, have fun and be treated with respect all at the same time. TR attempts to get this message of an online change out where-ever possible as well. We have our current members at the forefront of our minds but we feel that getting our message out there is important too. A great example is the forums we’ve created where members and non-members alike can express themselves. At the same time though, they contain the same rules as our online play does, therefore creating an environment just as safe and secure on the web as well.
How many people call your clan home?
Currently, there are 45 members total.
How do you go about luring and screening recruits?
We lure simply by stating that if you are truly seeking a place where you can be respected, share in teamwork skills and most of all have fun with the online games we support in the way that their makers intended, then we will guarantee you get it (except when entering any sort of automated matchmaking system that allows play with random gamers). Screening is much more involved and important to us than actually going out and recruiting. For the most part, we don’t actively seek out recruits anymore. Anyway, we have always concerned ourselves more with seeing if the applicant’s “personality” qualifies for TR. We don’t necessarily get down to the nitty gritty in a personal sense but have more or less come up with a system which “reveals people for who they truly are”. The only actual game experience we require is extremely limited. If the person would rather not play Halo 2, we recruit for other Xbox Live games as well. However, for the game that they in fact do specify, we require that they be at least team-minded and have basic communication skills. Rank, Achievements, and overall skill in any Xbox Live game is of no consequence to their potential Truth Regret membership. Just that they have the game, can play it online, are team oriented and are willing to participate at least as much as our minimum standard of activity dictates, is all we ask when it comes to actual gameplay.
What are some unique bylaws that your clan enforces?
One that always brings up the most controversy but we stick to adamantly is that we disallow; superjumping, glitching, and controller manipulation (albeit these are among the more obvious methods of cheating we also disallow) during any game which is considered to be competitive and “serious”. We make it apparent which games are serious to avoid any confusion, such as our sanctioned Clan vs. Clan scrimmages that we hold with allies, matchmaking, internal clan games and so on.
What do you do to build camaraderie in your ranks?
We hold many internal clan tournaments and allow our admin members to be team captains so that they can choose their teammates at will. These tourney’s often have prizes for winners and runners up but also by having the team preselected there is very seldom any cases where “clicks” will form in TR. We attempt to avoid all forms of division amongst ourselves. Even between those who might play two different games, (i.e. one person may play Halo 2 and the other may only play Chromehounds) the forums we provide create somewhat of a “central location” where these two people can and are always encouraged to get to know each other regardless of their online gaming. This will take place through like minded discussions, member intros and even events that we hold only on the web and such.
What is the best way to get booted from your clan?
Blatantly disrespecting or teamkilling fellow clanmates.
What gametypes does your clan prefer?
If and when the option presents itself, such as with Halo 2, we always prefer objective based games over all out deathmatches or slayer games. We feel objective games can encourage teamwork and communication more often than otherwise.
What is your poison/passion: Matchmaking? Customs? Challenges? MLG?
As for poisons, as stated above slayer games don’t go over well for us in matchmaking. While our skill may play a big part in this, most of the personalities in TR simply do not prefer them (save for big team slayer games though, we find these to be very strategic). We play such a wide variety of customs that there’s really nothing we don’t prefer there. We have nights where we let the members just go all out and get a chance to implement whatever games they’ve come up with and I tell you what, there’s alot I don’t think I could come up with if I was hired to, LOL! Can’t say I know of anyone in TR who even plays in any sort of “Major League Games” though. I have my own theories and “theses” on MLG. I’ll just leave it at that, LOL. For our passions, I’d say we are really able to shine in those big team battles. I’ve been outta the loop for a while now, is there even a BTB anymore? Well, anyway we were so confident in Major Clanmatch and were very sad to see it go. Those games which put large teams against each other have always seemed to be our forte.
What is the closest game your clan has had in a Clan Challenge?
Since my involvement has been strictly with the internet side of TR over the summer, I’ve unfortunately been absent for most of our recent Clan challenges. From what I’ve read we’ve had plenty of ‘em!
Thanks alot Furian for answering the questions. I definitely learned alot about your clan that I didn’t know. Truth Regret is founded on some amazing creeds: Honor, Trust, Loyalty, and Brotherhood. Coming from a clan that finds those same things important, it is very nice to know that there is a strong community to go into battle with, and then when the battle comes to you, then you know they are standing right beside you. To anyone interested in a good match, look no further than TR. If you just want a cool community to hang out with, another blog to check out, or to listen to their podcasts, then you can do that as well. Thanks for the good matches TR, hope we have some more in the future.
If you know a clan, or are in a clan that would like to be spotlighted in the Clan Profile then send me an email and tell me about it. Hope everyone enjoyed this week’s profile. Stop back next week for another great clan.

These guys whupped us, didn’t they Dweez? Didn’t we have to assemble five squads to take them on, too? This clan can field a lot of quality gamers. 45 seems a lot, especially when they are all high-quality and disciplined.
We fought most of them that night, and came away with nothing but thanks.
Redardless, you don’t bring a casual game against TR.
Actually this one was extremely close. Go click the link to check out the recap. Basically I think a few teams tied, others won, it was down to games won and games lost. Very close.
Great write-up Dweezle! We appreciate the spotlight this month. Your group is equally outstanding.
I just want to give you guys a big HI and say thank you very much for having us in your “Spot light”. I think you did a great job in putting this all togther. Once again, Thank You.
Thanks for such a great profile :)
My guys truly had a great time playing with you guys and still do. It is not often we find such a cool group online that we can call friends and allies!
Awesome work man, thanks for putting this up and getting our name out there even more.
Thanks for the spotlight guys. With TTL being such and outstanding group, this is truly an honor.
I am glad you all liked it. It was my pleasure. I enjoy gaming with you all and your clan is always fun to have matches against.
