The fine developers at Bungie Studios are kind enough to interface with their fans through a series of friendly matches that they brand as ‘Humpday Challenges’. I think this is because they happen on Wednesdays. Anyone who looks in at the Bungie website [even once in a while] knows this. It’s a great way for them to thank the gamers that so ravenously play their titles.
And what self-respecting Halo Addict would not enjoy taking a shot at the people who built and maintain the Halo experience?
The Humpday Challenge for this week was against a team that fights under the name “Gunslingers”. Sound familiar? Of course, no one has exclusive rights to a name. Anyone who ever had to select a gamertag that is different than the millions of other Xbox Live subscribers knows this.
It must be said, however, that Bungie’s most recent opponent does not represent the Official Clan of Tied the Leader.
Sadly enough, the results of this Humpday Challenge are in question. Bungie’s challengers rewarded their hospitality by misrepresenting the rules of the match that they selected for the event. Bungie, as any self-respecting Halo Addict shuold, cried foul. It was only through a little democracy that the Bizarro-Gunslingers were voted into forfeiture.
Better luck next time, fellas.
Of course, the controversy surrounding the King-of-the-Hill match could easily be dismissed as the result of a misunderstanding – a joke that bombed. We have all experienced that once or twice in our lives. What cannot be dismissed, however, is the conduct of the Other Gunslingers during the match. This is not the way to exhibit respect for one’s opponent – especially when the opponent in question is deserving of a certain amount of respect.
At ‘Tied the Leader’ we find all of this highly ironic. Here, we toil away to provide any who come calling with a ‘Good Game’. It is our mission and our mantra. We defend the notion of Sportsmanship as if it were the very flag in our base. It is with heavy hearts that we have read the Gunslinger name again and again in conjunction with a match that was won [and then lost] through dirty pool.
To the other Gunslingers: Shame on you. You have clearly forgotten the faces of your fathers.
Constant [or first time] Reader: If you are looking for those Other Gunslingers, you have come to the wrong place. We are the TTL Gunslingers. We are the good guys. We wear the white hats.
Accept no substitutes.
That is all.

I was most disappointed to see our good name smeared in such a manner… The TTL Gunslingers need to get a word to Bungie and promote the good word and the good work with one of these Humpday Challenges.
I…don’t know what to say. It’s difficult to feel personally insulted when something like this happens, but I’ve managed it.
Their honor is no doubt a forgotten part of their gameplay. I hope their happy that they made fools of themselves. TTL lives on and we will show these fakes the right way to play in our everyday gaming.
For those of you looking in on this, it should be known that an immense portion of the TTL Gunslinger community focuses on a fun-loving element of roleplay. Isn’t that, after all, why we game in the first place?
Don’t take any of this the wrong way. We are having a measured amount of fun at the expense of others. No blood, no foul. Right?
I almost had a panic attack when I saw the Bungie headline.
When I first read the front page my thoughts went…”Hey…I didn’t know the Gunslingers are from Se7enth Column. HEY WAIT! The Gunslingers have a match with Bungie and didn’t tell us!” Then I realized it was another group.
Honestly, I was very disappointed that it wasn’t you guys. You would have represented Halo clans much more honorably.
Panic Attack? Catchy…
Hmmmmm….
You know, since the Gunslinger name is so ubiquitous, perhaps we should change our clan name to something like that.
Only losers would name their clan after a syndrome like that. Might as well call yourselves the “Scaredy Cats” or “I Bruise Easily”.
Yeah. You’re right.
We will pick something tough, like Helljumpers or Final Boss. Yeah. One of those two will do just fine.
I hear “final boss” is taken. Perhaps we should be “F1na41 130Ss”.
(Those 2 words took me longer to type than the rest of this post)
I tried to watch the video of the game and I couldn’t handle it. I shut it off after 2 minutes. Disgrace.
Shit. This is getting rediculous. Maybe we could be Spartan Snipers 420. Or Str8 Bridging Gangstas.
Or, I suppose we could suck up our pride and remain Gunslingers.
Yes. Let’s do that…
Since the humpday challenges began, on that first unforgettable wednesday, I have always dreamed of the chance to play with the bungie guys. I was very dissapointed when I saw this match. I hope that in some way this misunderstanding with a less than worthy opponent will bring the good works the TTL Gunslingers to light. Somehow I hope that this misdeed brings us closer to being picked as humpday challengers to prove there are Gunslingers out there who play the game how it is meant to and respect those who have made this community possible.
[hands handywipe to Fezzer]
Dude. Something on your nose.
Good thing about Mud is it washes off with time.
Though “gunslingers” have been portrayed in a bad light. The name can come to represent much more in time, as this grime wears away. Eventually the true “Gunslingers” will shine through.
